I was able to grab Jay for a short while to discuss the direction of my work so far. First off I would like to say that his insight was greatly appreciated and will be taken into account.

I started by explaining that so far on the course I have found myself being forced towards a style of design I do not enjoy nor understand. He explained in detail that I should not fight the impulse to branch out into design style's that interest me, although these methods may not be the normal design style for most designers. He encouraged me to be as creative as possible, he continued to say that instead of coming up with a design and then forcing it to work in a software of my choice, I should instead come up with and idea and then allow it to change as I transferred it from my head to a final piece.

After a short talk about how his work is in constant flux and after showing me a small sample of his work on his own websites I gained an insight into how my designs should follow the same organic flow from my original concept to the final outcome. In short he stated that my ideas are strong and that in order for them to develop further I should "Let the design take me where it wants to go"

After this I mentioned that I have had a few moments in the project in which I have felt uneasy and unsure about what I want to do and what I can do. He told me not to worry as all designers can have this same block. All I must do is power through and allow creativity to flow. This gave me the confidence to pursue my creative thoughts and ideas.

Jay also shared with me some of his design methods he himself uses in his own work which to date I have yet to put to use however I will be sure to have another more in depth talk with him about future projects in which I can apply these techniques.

This talk gave me a much clearer grasp of how I can allow creativity to influence me rather than me influencing my own creativity. However I am still uneasy about the process of transferring my ideas from the sketchbook to a design document. This will be a problem to address in the next meeting I have.
