Cybernetics A scary World
Lets Talk Machines
Below is an extract from wikipedia for a very literal and practical use of the word cybernetics.

For other uses, see Cybernetics (disambiguation).
Cybernetics is a transdisciplinary[1] approach for exploring regulatory systems, their structures, constraints, and possibilities. In the 21st century, the term is often used in a rather loose way to imply "control of any system using technology."
Cybernetic as a word can span a very broad meaning from the description of a machine to a more morally controversial topic of control and direction. This to me is possibly one of the strongest meanings for the word cybernetics as it incorporates a society as a whole and can be used to describe the controlled world we live in every day.
If you wish to learn more about the origin of the word cybernetics and the construct that it can be used to refer to click the added link to look at Paul Pangaro's in depth research document. In this document he deconstructs the word and the definition to its roots to examine how it is used to describe the modern world we live in. http://www.pangaro.com/definition-cybernetics.html
