Its all Business

Basic Marketing

The 4 P's:
  • Price
How much will it cost to manufacture?
What will the price of management/employment be?
What will it cost to deliver?
What will it cost to package?

  • Product
Core Product: What must the product do?

Secondary Product: Why should the consumer buy it? (Features)

  • Promotion
How will you advertise the product?
What is the most effective way in the current market?

  • Place
Where will it be both made and distributed?
Where will it be used?
Will geographical locations effect your product?

What is Design?
To be a designer will set you apart from say an academic engineer. Whereas a designer will think of problem solving as a creative process, an engineering mind would think of it as a more mathematical and linear process to eliminate each wrong solution until the right one is found.

Convergent thought (Non Design)
This is how an engineer would approach a problem. Using statistics and logic this is a great way to approach say a blueprint however there are a number of areas where this process isn't as efficient as the process a designer would use.

Divergent thought (Design)
This alternate thought process is all about approaching a problem from all sides thinking outside the box and using a more creative and outgoing thought process to find a solution to a problem.
