Development YR1 Final

Development of Spray paintings

So far I have produced 4 of my intended 6 spray paintings all of which are on cotton canvas and all are final. Though they are final I am still experimenting with ways in which to display them in the context to which they have been made. I designed these pieces to be controversial and to poke fun at brands that hold a considerable influence over mainstream society. brands such as Starbucks having a stereotype of a "Whit girl drink". Here is a link to a page full of Starbucks stereotypes http://www.rantchic.com/2015/08/18/matching-stereotypical-girls-with-their-starbucks-drinks/.

Finding a suitable setting to photograph these images is proving difficult. As the images are only on a canvas they are still very delicate making my intended idea harder to pull off. I plan on utilising the same theme of photography as used in my previous project Response to sound. Part of that project involved a photoshoot for the David Bowie song Fame, in which I used a model and photographed her in raged clothes in a dark setting by a small body of water. These images where then edited using photoshop and given a grunge or punk theme. The rebellious nature of those images made me think the same style of photoshoot would fit this project perfectly. This also gives me a chance to revisit old work and take more inspiration from it.
